ALBANY, NY – As reported, earlier today legislative leaders in Albany dismissed both chambers of the legislature for the weekend despite the looming deadline to pass a state budget. Matt Slater, candidate for the 94th Assembly District stated the following:
"Today's decision by legislative leaders to send home lawmakers and abandon any attempt to pass an on time budget is bad for New York State. The State constitution requires a budget to be passed by April 1st and the failure to do so once again demonstrates the lack of leadership we currently have in Albany. New Yorkers deserve an on time budget that eases the burden on taxpayers, controls spending, protects our schools and local communities and fixes the failed bail reform enacted in 2019."
The 94th Assembly District includes the Town's of Carmel, Kent, Patterson, Putnam Valley, Southeast, Somers and parts of Yorktown.
