SLATER ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF UPGRADES AT PUTNAM VALLEY LIBRARY

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C–Yorktown) today announced the completion of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades at the Putnam Valley Library, funded through a $20,000 bullet aid funding he secured to improve accessibility, including enhancements to a single-stall bathroom.

During the 2024 Legislative Session, Slater, former ranking Minority member on the Committee on Libraries and Education Technology, led a bipartisan effort to prevent proposed cuts to library funding across New York state. Building on that commitment, he secured additional funding to support local libraries and ensure they remain accessible to all community members.

“Libraries are essential community resources, and it’s critical they are accessible to everyone,” said Slater. “This investment helps ensure the Putnam Valley Library continues to serve residents of all abilities in a safe and welcoming environment.”

Slater’s office noted that the newly completed ADA-compliant bathroom represents a significant step toward improving the library’s accessibility and inclusivity for patrons with mobility needs.

This has been a dream of ours for a long time. Slater said he will continue working to secure resources that strengthen local institutions and improve accessibility for communities across the district.
