Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) has been appointed by the Assembly Republican Conference to serve on the Economic Development Conference Budget Committee as part of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 state budget negotiations.

Budget conference committees bring together members of the Assembly and Senate to reconcile differences between the respective one-house budget proposals and negotiate a final spending plan for New York state. As a member of the Economic Development Conference Budget Committee, Slater will take part in discussions related to policies and investments that impact job creation, workforce development and the state’s economic competitiveness.

“I’m honored to be appointed by Leader Ra to represent the Assembly Republican Conference on the Economic Development Conference Budget Committee,” said Slater. “At a time when families and businesses across New York are facing serious affordability challenges, it’s critical that we focus on policies that support job growth, strengthen our local economies and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.”

Slater said he will work to advocate for policies that support small businesses, encourage economic investment and help make New York more affordable for residents and employers alike.

“As budget negotiations move forward, I will continue fighting for responsible fiscal policies that prioritize affordability and opportunity for the communities I represent in the Hudson Valley,” Slater added.
