Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) presented a New York State Assembly proclamation to the Boyd Artesian Well Company Inc. on May 30, celebrating its induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry following his nomination. Members of the Boyd family were present to receive the honor. Boyd Artesian Well Company Inc. is one of 10 businesses Slater is permitted to nominate for induction each legislative term. Slater has previously recognized other local businesses and organizations with this prestigious distinction, including Tompkins Community Bank and Kiwi Country Day Camp.
The New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry program is administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and highlights businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and have contributed to their community’s history.
“The Boyd Artesian Well Company has been a pillar of the Putnam County and greater Hudson Valley communities for more than 50 years, spanning five generations,” said Slater. Staying in business for such a long time while remaining a family-owned operation is an impressive accomplishment. In a time when trust is hard to come by, Boyd Artesian Well Company’s reputation as a reliable name is admirable.”
“I’m proud to celebrate this achievement with the Boyd family, and I wish them ongoing success in all their future endeavors,” Slater concluded.
Julie Boyd said, “Assembly Matt Slater has done a great job for the Town of Kent and the 94th Assembly District. It was a great pleasure to work with him and his staff. We really appreciate this honor and hope to continue to service our community with safe drinking water.”
Kent Town Supervisor Jaime McGlasson said, “Boyd Artesian Well Company has been a trusted name in the town of Kent for generations, and this recognition is a well-deserved celebration of all the hard work, tradition, and dedication they’ve put into their business. It’s great to see local history honored in such a meaningful way.”
