Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) today announced the launch of the “Revolution 250” Poster Contest in partnership with the Putnam Arts Council, inviting students in grades one to eight to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary through art.
The contest encourages students to create a handmade poster highlighting the significance of the United States’ 250th anniversary, allowing young artists to showcase their creativity while learning about the nation’s history.
“This is a great opportunity for students to connect with our nation’s history in a creative and meaningful way,” said Slater. “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the next generation must understand the values and sacrifices that shaped our country—and what better way to do that than through art.”
Students can submit posters sized 8.5” by 11” or smaller, with entries due by May 15, 2026. Submissions can be dropped off at participating locations across 94th assemblydistrict, including local libraries in Brewster, Mahopac, Putnam Valley, Patterson, Somers, Kent and at the Reed Memorial and John C. Hart Memorial Libraries.
Winning entries will be recognized and featured in a gallery exhibit hosted by the Putnam Arts Council.
“We’re proud to partner with the Putnam Arts Council on this initiative and provide students with a platform to express their creativity,” Slater added. “I encourage all eligible students to participate and be part of this historic milestone.”
