Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) presented a New York State Assembly proclamation to Radovich & Dean Music in Carmel on Nov. 6, celebrating the store’s induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry following his nomination. Radovich & Dean Music is a family-owned and operated business and has been serving the Hudson Valley since 1973.

The New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry, administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, honors businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and have made significant contributions to their community’s history.

“Cindy and Dave should be exceptionally proud of the musical community they have built in the Hudson Valley,” said Slater. “Their passion for music, education and service shines through everything they do at the store and in their classrooms. It’s an honor to recognize their incredible legacy.”

Founded by David Radovich, a multi-instrumentalist and band director, and his wife Cindy Dean Radovich, a classically trained pianist, Radovich & Dean Music began in Lake Carmel before moving to its current location in the Hamlet of Carmel. Over the years, the store has provided generations of students and professional musicians with quality instruments, instruction and expert repair services. Today, their daughter Tiffany continues the family legacy, operating The Studios, the store’s dedicated lesson department.

Cindy Dean Radovich, co-owner of Radovich & Dean Music, added, “Music has always been a family affair for us, from my father Rudy Dean and now onto our daughter Tiffany. We are grateful to Assemblyman Slater and the state of New York for recognizing the decades of work our family has poured into this business and our community.”

Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce President Christine Picone said, “Cindy, David and their family have inspired so many students and musicians over the decades. The Chamber is proud to see a local business with such deep roots in our area honored by the state for its incredible legacy. Thank you to Assemblyman Slater for supporting our local businesses and congratulations to Radovich & Dean!”

Slater has previously recognized other local businesses and organizations with this prestigious distinction, including the Boyd Artesian Well Company, Tompkins Community Bank, Stuart’s Farm, Kiwi Country Day Camp and Summer Trails Day Camp.
