SLATER KICKS OFF FEMININE HYGIENE DRIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PUTNAM CAP

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) is once again partnering with Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) to host a feminine hygiene drive aimed at providing much-needed products to women and teens across Putnam County. These essential items are always in high demand, yet they are not eligible for purchase through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, leaving many in need without access.

“Last year, more than 250 items were collected and distributed to more than 200 women and teens in our community,” said Slater. “Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors and the support of our local governments, we were able to meet a critical need that’s often overlooked.”

Menstrual products are a necessity for every woman, regardless of personal finances. Slater’s proposal (A.7655) would allow SNAP benefits to be used to purchase these essential items—an important and logical expansion of the program that would help ensure equitable access for all women.

“I’m incredibly grateful to all of the towns that are helping by offering accessible drop-off sites this May. I urge everyone who is able to consider donating and supporting those who may be struggling to afford even the most basic personal care products,” Slater continued.

Drop-off bins will be available throughout the 94th Assembly District from May 1 through May 30, making it easy for residents to participate. A full list of donation locations can be found on the flyer.
