SLATER RECOGNIZES CLUB FIT JEFFERSON VALLEY FOR 50YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) recently celebrated Club Fit Jefferson Valley’s official induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry after successfully nominating the Yorktown fitness center for the statewide honor. Slater also presented the organization with a New York State Assembly proclamation recognizing both its induction into the Registry and its 50 years of serving families throughout Yorktown and the Hudson Valley.

Founded in 1975, Club Fit Jefferson Valley has grown into much more than a fitness facility, building a community centered around health, wellness, friendship and connection. Earlier this year, Slater nominated the Jefferson Valley location for inclusion in the Historic Business Preservation Registry, recognizing the generations of local families and residents who have benefited from Club Fit’s commitment to community. Following the state’s approval, Club Fit officially became one of New York’s newest Historic Business Preservation Registry honorees.

“Reaching 50 years is a remarkable milestone, and Club Fit’s induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry is a fitting recognition of everything this organization has meant to our community,” said Slater. “I was proud to nominate Club Fit because it has become far more than a gym—it has been a gathering place where generations of families have built healthier lives and lasting friendships. I'm thrilled New York State recognized that legacy, and I congratulate everyone who has helped make Club Fit the institution it is today.”

Club Fit’s longstanding commitment to the community has included programs and amenities serving residents of all ages. Over the years, the organization has offered youth and child care programs, aquatics, tennis, group fitness and other services while maintaining a family-oriented environment. Its community focus has also extended beyond fitness by supporting first responders and military members and opening its doors to residents in need of showers during power outages.

The milestone also comes as Club Fit begins a new chapter following longtime owner and operator Bill Beck’s decision to sell its Jefferson Valley and Briarcliff locations to the Pinebrook Group. The new ownership has pledged to preserve the Club Fit name, its services and its community-focused mission while making investments in both facilities.

Established by New York State in 2020, the Historic Business Preservation Registry recognizes businesses that have operated for at least 50 years and have contributed to the history, heritage and identity of their communities. Club Fit's induction recognizes not only its five decades of service but also the lasting impact it has had on the Yorktown community.
