SLATER HOSTS FIRST SENIOR RESOURCE FAIR IN MAHOPAC

New York State Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) has hosted a Senior Resource Fair for the past three years. In response to growing demand, Slater expanded the event this year with a new location in Mahopac, bringing together local seniors, caregivers and families with organizations and service providers from across the region.
The free event provided attendees with an opportunity to connect directly with organizations offering information and assistance on elder care, Medicare, assisted living, state and county services, Alzheimer’s and memory care and other resources available to seniors and their families.
“One of the best parts of hosting our Senior Resource Fair each year is having the opportunity to speak directly with our seniors and connect them with organizations that can help make their lives a little easier,” said Slater. “Whether someone came with a specific question or simply wanted to learn more about the resources available to them, our goal was to make sure they could find helpful information and make those connections all in one place.”
The Mahopac event also offered a prescription medication drop-off, providing residents with an opportunity to dispose of unused or expired medications safely.
Slater thanked the organizations and service providers that participated in the fair and helped residents learn more about programs and services available throughout Putnam County and New York state.
“Our seniors have spent their lives contributing to our families and our communities, and they deserve to have access to the information and support they need,” Slater continued. “I want to thank every organization that joined us in Mahopac and, most importantly, every senior, caregiver and family member who came out. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones.”
The Mahopac Senior Resource Fair was the first of three Senior Resource Fairs Slater is hosting this October, with additional events scheduled in Yorktown Heights and Patterson.
