Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) hosted a Senior Resource Fair at the Patterson Recreation Center on Tuesday, Oct. 13, bringing together local seniors, caregivers and families with organizations and service providers from throughout the region. The event marked the final stop in Slater's expanded series of three Senior Resource Fairs held throughout October.

The free event provided attendees with an opportunity to connect directly with organizations offering information and assistance on elder care, Medicare, assisted living, state and county services, Alzheimer's and memory care and other resources available to seniors and their families.

“Making sure our seniors have access to the information, programs and services they need is incredibly important to me,” said Slater. “These resource fairs bring organizations together in one convenient location, making it easier for seniors and their families to ask questions, explore available services and connect with people who can help. It was wonderful to see so many residents take advantage of the resources available at our Patterson fair.”

“Our seniors have spent their lives contributing to our communities, raising families, and helping make Putnam County the wonderful place it is today. We owe it to them to make sure they have access to the resources, services, and support they need to thrive,” said Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne. “Whether it's navigating Medicare, planning for long-term care, or accessing services through our county's Office for Senior Resources, events like this help connect seniors and their families with valuable information and assistance all in one place. I was proud to attend and see so many organizations coming together to support our older residents and their caregivers. Thank you, Assemblyman Matt Slater, for organizing this important event and for his continued commitment to our senior community.”

Putnam County Clerk Michael Bartolotti recognized the importance of providing local seniors with opportunities to connect directly with service providers and community organizations.

“We would like to thank Assemblyman Matt Slater for hosting the Senior Resource Fair at the Patterson Recreation Center,” said Bartolotti. “Events like this provide a valuable opportunity to connect directly with our senior community, share information about the programs and services available to them and help ensure they are aware of the resources and support available locally. We appreciate Assemblyman Slater's commitment to bringing community organizations together to better serve our seniors.”

Patterson Town Supervisor Richard Williams also expressed his appreciation for the event and the organizations that participated.

“It was wonderful to see so many seniors attending Matt Slater's Senior Resource Fair, with so many opportunities to receive great information and assistance from the many agencies that were present,” said Williams. “It is so much hard work to organize the event; I can't begin to express my appreciation. Thank you, Assemblyman Slater, for always being there for Patterson.”

Slater has hosted Senior Resource Fairs in Yorktown for the past several years and expanded the initiative this year in response to growing demand. In addition to the Patterson event, Slater hosted fairs in Mahopac and Yorktown, providing seniors across Putnam and Westchester counties with additional opportunities to access important information and services closer to home.

“The response to our Senior Resource Fairs this year has been tremendous, and I want to thank every organization, volunteer and community partner who helped make these events possible,” Slater continued. “Expanding to three locations allowed us to reach even more seniors and families throughout the district. I am grateful to County Clerk Bartolotti, Supervisor Williams and everyone who joined us in Patterson to help make our final fair of the year a success.”
