Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) recently celebrated Lumar Plumbing & Heating Inc.’s official induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry after successfully nominating the Brewster-based company for the statewide honor. Slater also presented the business with a New York State Assembly proclamation recognizing both its induction into the Registry and more than six decades of service to the Hudson Valley.

Founded in 1960 by Korean War combat veteran Louis Gasparini, Lumar Plumbing has remained a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing quality plumbing services for generations of customers. In nominating the company, Slater highlighted its longstanding commitment to exceptional service, community involvement and its lasting impact on Putnam County. Following the state’s approval, Lumar became one of New York’s newest Historic Business Preservation Registry honorees.

“Businesses like Lumar Plumbing are part of what makes our communities special,” said Slater. “For more than six decades, the Gasparini family has built a reputation for integrity, hard work and outstanding service. I was proud to nominate Lumar Plumbing for the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry, and I’m thrilled the state recognized the incredible legacy they have created. This designation ensures their contributions to our community will be remembered for generations to come.”

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized in the New York State Registry of Historic Businesses. This distinction reflects the dedication and hard work of generations of the Gasparini family, from our founder, the late Louis Gasparini, and his brother, Thomas, to Thomas’s son, Troy Gasparini, who proudly continues the family legacy today. We are deeply grateful to Assemblyman Slater for this recognition, as well as to our dedicated team, loyal customers and the community for their continued support. This honor would not have been possible without them,” said Callahan of Lumar Plumbing.

For more than 66 years, Lumar Plumbing has built a reputation for dependable workmanship, exceptional customer service and treating every customer like family. Under multiple generations of Gasparini family leadership, the company has continued to evolve while remaining true to the values established by its founder.

Established by New York State in 2020, the Historic Business Preservation Registry recognizes businesses that have operated for at least 50 years and have contributed to the history, heritage and identity of their communities. Lumar Plumbing’s induction recognizes both its decades of service and its enduring role in the Hudson Valley.
