Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) has been recognized as an honoree at this year’s Westchester-Putnam Counties Central Labor Body’s Annual “Celebration of Labor.” The prestigious event, which brings together labor leaders, public officials, and community members, celebrates those who have made significant contributions to the labor movement and the working families of Westchester and Putnam counties. The Central Labor Body is affiliated with both the national and state American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), further underscoring the significance of this honor.
Slater, who represents the 94th Assembly District, received the endorsement of the NYS AFL-CIO as well as the recommendation of the Westchester/Putnam CLB and was selected for his steadfast commitment to advocating for workers’ rights, job security, and fair wages. Throughout his tenure, Slater has championed legislation that protects union jobs, improves workplace conditions, and ensures that labor unions have the support they need to thrive.
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by the Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body,” said Slater. “Our labor unions are the backbone of our communities, fighting tirelessly for the rights and well-being of working families. I remain committed to working alongside our union brothers and sisters to ensure that every worker is paid a fair wage while being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
“The Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body is proud to have recommended Matt Slater for the New York State AFL-CIO endorsement for a second consecutive time. In his first term Matt has worked tirelessly on behalf of our brothers and sisters of labor lending his voice in support of fair contracts, fair wages and worker protections. While our nation is embattled by hyper partisan politics Assemblyman Slater has been a breath of fresh air, reaching across the aisle and tackling issues on their merits. Our organization is proud to support Matt Slater for the New York State Assembly and looks forward to our continued work together,” said Thomas Carey, President of Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body.
“In his time in the Assembly, Matt Slater has proven his commitment to fighting for working people. From his support for strong labor standards on publicly funded projects and job creation to raising awareness and protecting workers from the potential negative impacts of artificial intelligence, Assemblyman Slater has been invaluable. We proudly support Matt Slater and are committed to educating and mobilizing our members to help him win on election day. We congratulate him for being honored by the Westchester-Putnam Counties Central Labor Body’s Annual Celebration of Labor,” said Mario Cilento, President of New York State AFL-CIO.
