Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) recently concluded his fourth Annual Feminine Hygiene Drive, collecting feminine hygiene products and self-care items for residents in need through a continued partnership with Putnam Community Action Partnership (Putnam CAP).
The annual initiative was created to address a critical but often overlooked need in the community. Feminine hygiene products are not eligible for purchase through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, leaving many families struggling to afford these essential items while balancing other household expenses. As a member of the bipartisan Future Caucus, Assemblyman Slater authored A.7655 that continues to attract support from colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
Thanks to the generosity of residents throughout the 94th Assembly District, this year’s drive collected enough donations to assist more than 120 households in need.
“Access to feminine hygiene products is a basic necessity, yet for many families these items can place an additional strain on already tight budgets,” said Assemblyman Slater. “For the fourth year in a row, our community stepped up in an incredible way to help neighbors in need. I am grateful to everyone who donated and helped make this drive a success.”
Donations included a variety of feminine hygiene products, personal care items and self-care essentials, all of which were distributed through Putnam CAP to local households facing financial hardship.
Director of Putnam Community Action Partnership, Marisa O’Leary, said: “Feminine hygiene products are not luxury items—they are necessities. Assemblyman Matt Slater’s collection drive was a tremendous boost to our efforts at Putnam CAP, ensuring we can keep our shelves stocked with essential items that are often overlooked but deeply needed. We thank the assemblyman and everyone who donated for their outstanding generosity and commitment to supporting local families.”
