As part of his biannual effort to connect seniors with essential services, Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) hosted his third annual Putnam County Senior Resource Fair last week. The event followed last month’s successful Westchester County fair and brought together elder-care attorneys, Medicare specialists, assisted-living facilities, telehealth providers and Alzheimer’s and memory care organizations, along with state and county agencies serving older adults. Seniors, caregivers and family members were able to connect with more than 40 participating organizations to receive guidance on programs and services.
“The goal of this event is to bring information directly to the people and make it as easy as possible for seniors and their families to get the help they need,” said Slater. “There are so many programs and services available, but it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we bring all these resources together under one roof. I’m grateful to the Patterson Recreation Center for hosting, to the organizations that continue to show up for our seniors and to everyone who came out to learn more for themselves or their loved ones.”
Patterson Town Supervisor Rich Williams said, “Such a wonderful event. Our seniors need easier access to the many services that are available to them, and Assemblyman Matt Slater’s Senior Resource Fair does just that. This year’s Senior Resource Fair was even better than last year’s, making available even more information and resources to our seniors. Thank you, Matt, for all that you do to support the Patterson community.”
Peggy Burns, club leader of the Putnam Lake Senior Club at the Patterson Recreation Center, said, “It was a terrific event with a great turnout! The event was very well organized, with so many vendors and resources available for seniors. Assemblyman Slater always does a wonderful job, and I’m so proud of the work he does for our community.”
