Albany, NY - Incoming State Assemblyman Matt Slater released the following statement pertaining to legislation that was introduced which would give state lawmakers a $32,000 pay raise.
"I am adamantly opposed to the pay raise legislation that Governor Hochul and the legislative majorities are planning to quickly pass later this week without any public input. Our state is facing real challenges, but increasing legislators’ salary isn’t one of them. From surging crime and inflation to underperforming schools and the nation’s highest tax burden, New Yorkers deserve better from their elected leaders in Albany.”
